Has any meme forced its way into becoming a meme? I thought all of them were plucked from context

Oh boy yes, but mostly early internet memes, when 4chan was the bleeding edge of internet "culture". Shit like advice animals were spammed to hell and back until they got enough natural momentum.

4chan was never the bleeding edge of Internet culture, it was always a back room filled with people who believed they were the bleeding edge of Internet culture.

4chan has always been the knife wielding Internet chimp that occasionally slashes and makes it bleed, but not the bleeding edge itself.

Milhouse is not a meme.

Probably some shitty memes were made for the express purpose of being a meme, but the good ones take from something else as you said. It's like when someone tries to get everyone to call them Dominator but their name is Jeff.

Superman TV series, but I think this might have been from a crossover episode with Batman.

Batman Beyond

The green guy is Derek Powers aka Blight. He finnaly lives in a sub since his skin starts to fall off.

Batman: "You killed my father." Blight:"Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?"

Source: I really liked this show when I was a kid.

I really liked the episode with the guy who could cancel out all the sound. I still think about it!
