Holy damn, the cameraman was nowhere near far enough up the hill at first.

When he started running, I was internally screaming at him to start filming because I couldn't see shit.

He did a pretty good job still filming backwards

jaybone@lemmy.zip · 11 pts · 6d

Yeah dude did a great job filming all that. Would have liked to see them after they were safe and what the surrounding water situation looked like then.

climate change is a series of videos like this one until you are the one filming

i like how the guy is just standing there and filming being sure that nothing can happen to him and also making sure we know what his face looks like

I don't think any reasonable person would expect that volume of water coming down the river.

Every time i'm at thr beach and the ocean is kinda going crazy and tye waves crash at the shore, tgere are always people just standing there. That is as long as i remember. People now film, back tgen they just looked at it. Every time a whole grop just gets washed away by a big wave.

you might be right, but idk, everyone is running, so they probably know what they are dealing with

and they probably know what's happening in their country right now

anyway, as condescending as i am here, i know we all do stupid things sometimes and i'm not an exception

Curiosity is human nature. Sure, it looks stupid, but people often want to see strange and crazy things, until the survival instinct clicks in that is.

imsure@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 7d

well, everything we do is human nature, including stupid things

Made me think of my wife who likes to stand in the front porch to "look for the tornado" when the sirens are going off. Nevermind the fact that she has only like 120 degrees of view from the porch at most, as the tornado comes up from behind. I love that woman. She's incredibly intelligent, but also way too confident that a disaster can't happen to her.

you sound like a happy person! i'm glad for you

I think knowing what stupid looks like was an important part of the video

imsure@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 7d

if only there was a way to know that a person is going to do a stupid thing

alas! we all do stupid things sometimes

Run for your lives

Sorry, the music just started playing in my head.
