U.S. trade rep disputes why talks fell apart | Canadian exclusive

Turn the sound off and watch his eyes. I do hope he does not play poker. As a trade 'negotiator' he is sooooo easy to read. Just screams 'call by bluff'.

So, with every question, the first thing he does is deny that anything was altered. But, in his follow up he never actually disputes any of the things Carney said...he just dances around them in an attempt to explain over and over again, how Canada should be grateful to even be getting the deal that was offered.

This is all just double-speak bullshit. They absolutely tried to impose those conditions on Canada at the last minute, and are now crying foul because we refused to accept them. Fuck this guy. And fuck Lutnick too.

He gets more and more agitated as the interview goes on.

They all keep saying Canada had "the best deal" - that's code for a deal that would cripple Canada, economically and politically.

As soon as I heard "best deal" things fealt very off. Why would it be appropriate to compare to other "deals" the US has with other countries? The only only parties relevant to this discussion are Canada and the US. What a dumb statement to make.

and told CBC News chief political correspondent Rosemary Barton there’s currently no ‘open channels’ to get both sides back to the negotiating table.

Good. A bad deal is worse than no deal.

Although he's probably lying given his record.
