I absolutely love the silly measuring systems the American media use to compare things. Is this Dodger Stadium full just in the seats? Stacked kids? Full to the roof of kids?
I understand that 300k can be tough to conceive, but who even knows how many people fit in this one specific stadium?
Worst one I saw was an article about a large cruise ship and they had an infographic that showed the number of city busses, brontosauruses and redwood trees if laid side by side it would take to equal the ship.
The busses were like 30...which makes it tough to conceive in and of themselves. They also operate on land so a strange choice.
Nothing more helpful to contextualize relative size than something 65 million years removed from anyone using its size for comparison.
Since redwood trees are generally vertical, a helpful choice.
That's the stadium of the big baseball team in California, the target audience of the article. They play in LA, the biggest metro area in the state, so quite a few people in the target audience would be somewhat familiar with it.
