I particularly liked the Urbanist’s op-ed on this, that was posted in !seattle@lemmy.sdf.org which really drives home the point that everyone, both pedestrians and businesses alike, are overwhelmingly in of leaving the market car-free, and we’re really doing this for like, one hypothetical grocery shopper who almost certainly doesn’t actually exist

Yeah, that's a stupid move. Probably someone rich enough wants to drive their Lamborghini there. Probably with a couple of prostitutes in the back.

It sounds like a ludicrous idea, but when you rant think about it, the pedestrians most-threatened by this and likely to avoid the area as a result are mostly just the out of town tourists whose spending props up the entire region of the city.
No biggie, right?
