Note: Before saying anything else, I'd like to start by saying that obsessing over numbers is bad. Like, really bad. Please don't do it. This isn't what this post is about.
This is meant to be a timeline of my own measurements over the years, because I'm curious how my body will change on HRT.
This isn't meant to be post externalizing my own brainworms, body shaming anyone or even boasting about my body.
Please don't take it that way.
Also, this post is probably wrong in so many ways...

After feeling bad about my shoulders, I decided to actually measure them, to see what I was really dealing with. This led to me measuring much more than just my shoulders, obviously 😂
With the help of this site containing anthropomorphic measurements, and also some measuring tape, I decided to document the changes to my body in the worst way possible...a measurement timeline 😆
Note that this was my bf measuring me, but when measuring on my own, I got mostly the exact same numbers, so I trust him with this.
I'll try to keep this updated over the years. This isn't really for other people as much as just for me to have a convenient way to see my old and current measurements at a glance.
With that being said, here are the measurements I took:
- Biacromial width: the width between the two acromions, the bony bits at the top of the shoulders, next to the collarbone
- Bideltoid width: the width between the two deltoid muscles, basically just under your shoulder joints
- 'Overbust': the circumference of the chest right above the breasts, this is a made up term that probably doesn't exist 😆
- Bust size: circumference of the chest right across the breasts, I measured across my nipples
- Underbust: this is the band size or the circumference of the chest directly under the breasts
- Waist: circumference of the waist (the narrowest part of the torso)
- Hips: circumference of the widest part of the hips, butt included!
- Height & weight: self-explanatory

What started as a measurement born from massive shoulder dysphoria...revealed that actually, my shoulders weren't as monstrously huge as I had previously thought, it was just my dysphoria talking.
The bideltoid width, I think will decrease. At least some of that is muscles, and HRT should help with that. All in all, this made me feel a bit better about myself! All is not lost 😄

this post made me realize that i actually have the perfect reference data for doing this: for unrelated reasons, i had all (like all all) my measurements taken just a few months before starting HRT. maybe at the 1 year mark i should try measuring it all again and see how much (or little!) has changed...

I think you should do that! You'll probably be pleasantly surprised and 1 year of HRT should be enough for some awesome changes!

wait that was how you're supposed to measure the hips this entire time?? previously we measured like 91.4 cm but with the way you described we got 96.5 cm. this is quite insightful!
well, it's real enough of a term to end up in wiktionary! don't worry about it :)

of course!! hell we might take some other measurements too in a little bit when we aren't as busy.
and remember that making up words is a totally normal thing to do. that is how a language's vocabulary evolves! with regards to those folk who are like "that's not in the dictionary!!1!" they have a special place in hell :3

(and on that note, one of the best terms we have seen in a research paper in the field of LINGUISTICS no less is "pre-antepenultimate", or "prior to the last thing before the last thing before the last". we can't think of any reason for using this instead of "fourth to last" besides just being for the lols)
