Intercourse, PA didn't make the list. Blue Ball is nearby, but I would swear I heard it was plural at one point.

I don't know about your Blue Ball, but I grew up by a different one (called Blue Ball), and other superficially similar town names. I was told they were from the roadhouse days. Something like there was an inn at that junction that had a blue ball on the sign. The junctions became towns. Most are gone, now, but sometimes live on in road names. It's interesting to think about what the significance of "blue ball" may have been 200+ years ago. Perhaps similar haha. Traveling can be hard.

I have another one that is not on the list, because the reason it was considered unusual has been slowly fading away.

It's a neighbouring town called "Alf".

During the Alf-TV-series craze in the 80s, the town sign regularly got stolen, similar to the Fucking one.

That was a serious problem, as those are standardized, but custom made signs, and are not only quite expensive, but serve multiple functions besides naming the town (e.g. setting the speed limit to 50km/h).
So they are mandatory to have installed (you also can't just replace it with huge rocks or so, like the Shitterton people did).

So I fully understand the Fugging people for renaming their town.
Other options are just too expensive (and also dangerous, think of the speed limit function, which is similar in Austria as in Germany) in the long run...

Yeah blasting through the fugging village at 100kmh would cause a shitterton of accidents

In the Harz Mountains in Germany, near the Brocken, are the towns Elend (misery) and Sorge (sorrow).

Elend and Sorge

I love that Fucking and Hell were the chosen primary examples, in that order.

Needs add Boring, Oregon. And probably a ton of others.

From that list I've only been to Condom. When I saw the name I thought it sounded like the perfect place for a break on our trip from Bordeaux to Toulouse. Actually a very pretty small town. The spire of the cathedral was under repair and wrapped in plastic, which amused tourists and locals alike, it seemed.
