Hey gang! Sorry I went so quiet after we had so much enthusiasm about this community. I want to encourage other people to feel free to post their workout reports and their ideas here outside of the challenge threads, so please feel free to do that. But I also got busy in August because something kinda crazy happened in my real life and now I have more responsibility to my local community that I've ever had before, so I had to take that serious.
But it's a new month! Let's challenge ourselves and each other to get in shape to get out and agitate for a better world with a freeer life than what we've ever experienced before. As with last month I'll be posting my challenge in the comments here (as well as another comment reporting on my mileage)

Last month challenge report: It did not go well! I ended up spending a lot more time on the road than I expected meeting with Union leaders to discuss plans for the future. So I didn't get in as much running or walking as I wanted, so I ended focusing more on strength training since I can fit those workouts in faster.
But also! I got in a lot more strength training this month than I have since I was in college and had free any time access to a weight room. So that was really encouraging.

This month's challenge to myself: I have set up a run schedule for myself. 4 days/week until the last week of the month, which will be my down week (ie, I'll return to my mileage before these up weeks, which will be 0 miles. After that I'm going to increase my regular run distance to my last long run distance, which is 4.5 miles, and increase my long run distance to be 50% longer than my regular run distance, which will bump up to 6 miles).
For strength training I am going to split my workouts more so I can fit in more strength days. I was doing individual muscle groups most of last month, then shifted to a full body schedule on the 31st, so now I need to run days. So I'm going to challenge myself to fit in at least 2 strength workouts per week.
So in total, the challenge is 4 running days / week + 2 strength days / week.
I don't have any clever tie in to prior labor movements. I'm too frazzled with all the new responsibility I've got so if someone else wants to make this cute, be my guest :)
