I wonder if (friendly) animals would appreciate scritches in hard-to-reach spots by people, similar to humans and back scratches from one another. Having an itch that I can't quite scratch drives me crazy... I assume the same sort of euphoria would happen to our furry friends.

Cows seem to love brushes they can scratch themselves against. Maybe that's something?

Oh yeah, I've seen those like automatic brushes. Yeah, maybe a smaller version of that :o
