I enjoyed it well enough, didn't drag out for too long. I appreciate a show that doesn't center conflict around poor communication. Now my Tuesday animes will all be crap glares at Red River and The Oblivious Saint

Okay, a 9-episode season. And even though they had 9 episodes for a single LN volume, they still stripped away a lot of what makes Nonna, Nonna. They focussed entirely on the romance between Victoria and Jeff and let all other characters fall flat. It's okay if they want to go with this, I guess, but the second volume was one of my absolute favorites (not just in the series but in light novels in general), and I would LOVE to see it animated. The problem is that the second volume would heavily lean on Nonna, and the anime did not set her up to be who she needs to be. Anime Nonna is completely different from book Nonna, both from her personality as well as from her skillset.

I thought it was a little weird that Nonna wasn't getting much characterization; given she's a main character it made the show feel a little sparse? I did enjoy anime Nonna though, and I'm looking forward to next season 🙂

Personally I was surprised at how willing Victoria was in becoming an asset again. Her new agency made clear that they have been watching her, that they know that she was being hunted, that they knew she was involved in the jailbreak, that they killed her pursuers, and that they were able to leak disinformation to stop the hunt.
I suppose one subtext was that they really could have arrested her at any time.
::: spoiler Tap for maybe spoilers I have watched and read enough espionage stories that I don’t really know what might constitute a spoiler, so I am putting these thoughts in a spoiler section. I am anime only and do not have any familiarity with the source material.
The agency had made it clear that her “safest” course of action (also convenient for the agency) involved some sort of expedition to acquire medication or something related to this special medicine. While the messenger was very nice and polite about it, the subtext was pretty clear, though.
Jeff is her new handler whether he knows it or not. I am leaning towards not because he has been “getting it” extremely late whenever the question of getting anything comes up. He did surprise me in these last two episodes even though the EP implied he would join Vicky and Nonna in some capacity.

I like that this show has pretty realistic timelines (& timeskips)
sleepy Nonna is so cute but also the next shot being asleep Nonna was hilarious :P
Jeff's past is way darker than I would've guessed, and it really fleshes him out as a character. In general this show has done a good job efficiently fleshing out characters, given most of the time we're seeing Vicky's perspective. The story feels strangely cozy even though it feels a little sparse overall (there were only 9 episodes, tbf).
