Collected these beauties over the past year and reread the series from the beginning. Now there's a Laureline-shaped hole in my heart. Do y'all have any recommendations on series with a similar ethos?

I believe the edition "619 label" will have what you search.They are independent and let the artist have their artistic freedom.

Mathieu Bablet work with them. Look at everything he does you will find theme linked to space, war, love, futurs, nature, humanity place in such a world,etc He is quite prolific and bring novelty everywhere.

For serialized work. I recently found "SAGA" by vaugan/staples to be amazing. "Sillage" is a serialized work for young adult but it should fit your bill

Singelin is the author of "Frontier" published with editor rue de Sèvres. It is amazing ! Bonus, he is the character design artist behind one of my favorite vidéo game: citizen sleeper.

As a bonus, animation show "scavenger reign" should be up for you. Same for the trilogy of books "the wayfarer" that start with "a long way to a small angry planet" by becky chambers

Have you read The Incal?

I'll echo Sillage, for sure, although I personally don't consider it primarily young-adult fare. In fact some of the themes are quite heavy, and although overall it's fun and upbeat in tone, individual events can be rather heartbreaking and/or deeply discouraging, and death is a fairly regular occurrence.

@beatl@pawb.social, I'd be curious to know which tomes you've read. There actually is a separate Nävis series that's indeed pitched for kids, but it's a spinoff.

Also worth checking out would be Yoko Tsuno and Orbital. Bedetheque almost always has full page samples to look at, and a partner site there sometimes has even more, like 12+ pages. You've also just reminded me to check out Le Cycle de Cyann, which I was putting off until my French was better. It may be worth a look for you, but I understand it's considerably more complex than V&L.
