I heard so much shit talk about Baltimore over the years, I worked for an American company for a while based near enough that I got to visit a few times. I'm sure I never made it to the rougher parts but I mean I felt entirely safe on my own exploring downtown and making my way to a ballgame and generally hanging around in the public facing bits of the city.
I've never had problems in Baltimore. Plenty of other cities have much worse attitudes on average. The people are generally great. I'm not interested in ever visiting other cities like Memphis again.
