Is a PWA no longer available?

On my last phone, I succesfully installed sopuli.xyz as a PWA on Android. On my new Android phone, the install "fails" on both firefox and vanadium (chromium), resulting in just a shortcut for a regular web page. Other sites' PWAs work just fine.

Might something have broken with the PWA part of sopuli?

I was able to make a PWA on my iPhone without issue (Safari)

Thanks for chiming in! Could someone on Android try to install the PWA as well to figure out if the problem is just on my end?

I tried and it didn't work.

What's PWA? Just a shortcut from saving to home? That works for me on Android. (I swear I left this comment yesterday but I guess not.)

A Progressive Web App. Its not quite a shortcut. It is akin to installing an app.

A 'light' PWA is basically a a shortcut to a web page that hides the browser elements, leaving more room for the site's content.

A 'heavier' PWA can install stuff to your phone such that it remains usable even without an internet connection.

Thank you for that information.

Ah, gotcha, just read up a bit. Looks like Chrome based browsers support true PWAs. Firefox based ones just create shortcuts. (Maybe I will play with Vivaldi again.)

Firefox on Android can create working PWAs as well, it's not just chromium browers.
