Hey folks. I built filmdilemma.com in my spare time because I was sick of scrolling through streaming apps trying to decide what to watch.
It lets you search around 29k movies with actual filters, genre, theme, mood, actor, director, year, rating, instead of just a genre dropdown. There is a quick pick tool called the Dilemma Solver if you just want an answer without thinking too hard, and a free AI chat called The Fixer that can find a movie from a description even if you do not remember the title. It also gives you similar movie suggestions, curated lists, trending movies, critic reviews on movie pages, and watchlists and ratings where you can import your IMDb history.
Whole thing is free, no ads, nothing locked behind a paywall. Would genuinely appreciate anyone giving it a try and telling me what is missing or annoying.

I see lots of obscure movies from (for example) the 1950s ... but not more modern movies that were niche or box-office-failures with streaming cult followings.

Thanks, the older catalog came from a big historical import, but automatic discovery only went live recently and it only picks up fresh releases. So there is a blind spot exactly where you describe: 90s to 2010s movies that flopped in theaters and found their audience later. I checked after your comment and things like Miami Connection, Psycho Goreman and Popstar were indeed missing. I am running a backfill right now that should add a few thousand of these over the coming days.
Quick question so I fix the right thing: did you notice this while browsing the homepage lists, or when searching and filtering? The homepage leans toward curated and trending picks, so if that is where it felt skewed toward old titles I can rebalance those lists too. And if there are specific movies you looked for and could not find, name a few and I will make sure they get in.
