I don’t think there’s a difference, economists had a long time to advise that we should try anything other than cutting taxes, gutting unions and increasing capitalism.

Just ask sir Angus Deaton who wrote an essay about how economists failed in their duty to provide guidance and influence politics by only focusing on monetary value and efficiency.

I know of a not insignificant number of them that have been raising alarms for basically decades now. The problem is that if anyone ever gives them the stage, it's so that they can be dismissed, insulted, and condescendingly talked over by someone paid by the guy who owns the stage.

Now, if we are talking about the economists hired by the stage owner, they can get fucked and get no sympathy from me.

Economics is basically a fake science used to justify liberals

My understanding is that the wealthy funded economics departments in the USA starting in the mid-20th Century, and so now the profession is riddled with failed theories that are accepted as gospel.

I cant see that essay link, it says something about access being denied to it. That being said, I would be very surprised if there were no economists that have recommended other things than that, fields of study are rarely monolithic after all, and there's a plenty of obvious reason for the voices of economists that do recommend more power to capital to be elevated above any that do not: the avenues by which some people's ideas become more visible to the public than others (news and other such media), the means to train new economists, and the money to hire and pay economists, all are generally controlled by people who stand to benefit from that outcome.
