It’s giant house spider season again — that magical stretch of late summer when adult males abandon their dark corners and begin crawling through Oregon homes in search of females.
They are not hunting you. They are not plotting a takeover. They are looking for love and, unfortunately, your bathroom is apparently on the way.
Oregon has at least 500 species of spiders, with roughly a dozen regularly found in and around homes. None, however, delivers a jump scare quite like the giant house spider.

Yeah! Big spider bros! I always safely capture and return to my yard when I see these guys.

My daughter let out a scream from the bathroom the other day. She knew there was a spider in the bathtub which was all well and good, pretty common occurrence in our house. She was doing her thing in the bathroom, and was keeping an eye on our new little room mate. What she didn't know was that the bathtub spider was not alone, until she felt something crawling up her leg.
Both the little critters have been relocated outside now, just in time for another spider to move in.
