SSS: You are the guy

Also B: Self-employed

Skullgrid@lemmy.world · 33 pts · 2d (4 replies)

"self employed" here .

Finding clients means this is 100x worse

MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz · 13 pts · 2d

Depends a lot on what you do.

But yeah. It can be a mix of whoring yourself out to google advertising, facebook, instagram, and shudder... tiktok.

I've gotten to know a guy in the same business as me whose been doing it long enough to have the momentum to just sit in his tiny storefront location, and have customers coming in the door by word of mouth, and by just having seen the store at some point years earlier.

I am so incredibly jealous. But. I'm a little over a year in and I am starting to pick up clients that heard about me from previous clients, and that is happening more and more.

hperrin@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 2d (2 replies)

You found clients?

Skullgrid@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2d (1 reply)

fuck no, that's why "self employed" is in quotes

fakeman_pretendname@feddit.uk · 3 pts · 2d

We use the phrase "self-unemployed"

YellowParenti@lemmy.wtf · 4 pts · 2d (1 reply)

Is "I looked up some YouTube vid and I'm going to try doing it myself." S+

MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 2d

No that's self-employed.

Technically you could have a B+ version of self-emplyed, that is just: "crime, I set up a online scam/grift to earn 'passive' income"

LeftReddit2@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 2d (2 replies)

I have had my Linkedin account for 10 years and recently they asked me to confirm who I am with a scan of my ID.

We live in truly rancid times, gamers.

wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2d (1 reply)

And you didn't do it and let them delete the account, right? ...right?

LeftReddit2@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 2d

No duh I ain't gave them shit! I emailed them saying I had my account for like 10 years, so can they just gimme my access back!?

I have not heard from them so I think I am just cooked.

djmikeale@feddit.dk · 15 pts · 2d

Also pretty high score: "my boss got a job at a new company and convinced me to join"

Skullgrid@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 2d (1 reply)

Finding jobs though friends: C

Signtist@bookwyr.me · 5 pts · 2d

In my experience it's a high B.

JoShmoe@ani.social · 7 pts · 2d (1 reply)

I feel like A should be my mom bangs a guy.

wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2d

So you're the one filming, doing post-processing, or director?

taiyang@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2d

My wife got my sister a job, although she still had hoops to jump. I think that's probably B?

spacegoat@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2d

Add “the guy from college who I have blackmail on”

CodingCarpenter@lemmy.ml · 6 pts · 2d

I got my job through a hackernews job listing. I’d call that at least a C

RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2d

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2d

The experience with job sites and the experience with dating sites have entirely too many similarities.

HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 2d (2 replies)

A: I know a guy. B: Attractive and qualified. C: Attractive and unqualified.

wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2d (1 reply)

What if you are unattractive but very qualified? Like a disabled IT basement dweller?

... asking for a friend

HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 2d

I think we both know the answer to this question

Mwa@thelemmy.club · 3 pts · 2d

LinkedIn sucks cause Microsoft and Glass Door sucks cause they leak information

fakeman_pretendname@feddit.uk · 2 pts · 2d

"I already work at that job but they're firing and re-hiring at a lower salary for the same work" must be pretty high up.
