It's probably playing Bad Apple

HoneyMustardGas@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 7d

Came here to say this.

Avicenna@programming.dev · 2 pts · 7d

Ah, came here to ask this. Thank you for your service.

Xerxis@lemmy.ca · 30 pts · 7d

I don't trust that response. It would be ridiculous for Rockstar to shut out such a large portion of their player base.

Literally unplayable

GTA 5 was, why can't GTA 6? 😡

Tiral@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 6d

It's all about gate keeping bro.

As long as it's turing complete, it can in theory run it?

prime_number_314159@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 6d

A proper turing machine has an infinite amount of accessible storage. A "turing complete" computer today generally operates with a finite amount of accessible storage, and we mean that it is able to compute operations that use less than that finite amount of accessible storage - not that an infinite number of resources are available.

As best I understand it, the Antikythera mechanism has only a few stored values, and makes only addition and subtraction computations from them to give various outputs. In that sense, it's accessible storage is about 3 floating point numbers, and it is not turing complete within that storage domain, because it cannot divide, take square roots, and do other things possible in that size.

It would almost certainly get stuck when Steam tries to precompute the Vulkan shaders.

Will Skyrim?

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 7d (1 reply)

will DOOM?

SuspiciousCatThing@pawb.social · 4 pts · 6d

It actually probably can run Doom.

MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 7d (3 replies)

Actually...

kalpol@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 7d (2 replies)

I was about to say, it has states, it can be computed upon

PrimeErective@startrek.website · 5 pts · 7d

I have states, Greg. Can you compute on me?

MrChewy@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 7d

siiigh doom?

It will run, the frame rate will just be a bit low as you have to manually plot each frame from the output, say a frame every hour or two...
