I came into this with an entire bucket of salt, but they did a reasonable weight volume equivalent of intake unlike the notorious different study of old which gave 400x the amount.
Of course they also intentionally caused corroted artery and oxygen deprevation in the mice immediately after, but still. They had 5 groups of 10 mice.
If I could find anything to nitpick it would be
1: They claimed "The global burden of stroke has consistently escalated from 1990 to 2021, contributing significantly to mortality and long-term disability." without accounting for the fact that global average lifespan has increased about +10 years in that time period, which correlates pretty strongly with stroke and heart disease risks. It's not good to start a study with an unproven implication demonstrating your bias.
2: they sourced the aspartame from Shanghai, China, which sounds really poor for quality control. Wouldn't be surprised if it came laced with minute amounts neurotoxins.
I think better studies to reference than this would be the study of over a hundred thousand humans in the EU published in france a few years back called the NutriNet Santé study.
