Little pet peeve of mine but it really annoys me when I see people refer to an AI agent as "him" or "he". It just reminds me of the lengthy talks with my 80 year old father where I try to convince him that AI is not thinking and does not have consciousness.

I've met a few people that have gotten upset when I mentioned that LLMs are not sentient and that they're just fancy math systems.

They have names for them. Josh. Chappie.

And I'm all for being polite to talking computers, but I follow Ouija board rules. You say hello, and thank you, and when you're done, you say goodbye.

My coworker had given her AI assistant a name. She used chatgpt to get through her mother's death and now she believes in it fully and detracts when we bring up negatives of AI. I get that it had a positive impact on your life but that doesn't mean the intentions of those behind it are pure. Also you have govt insurance, see a therapist or grief counselor.
