UPDATE: Mr. McKay will accept the knife and see about restoring the edge, I think he's busy teaching his grandkids how to swing a machete in a tunnel. In any case, here is SOP for offering him a knife:
1.) Do not text his advertised business mobile number, it annoys him.
2.) Do not call. See Rule #1
3.) Place the knives in a tote on the McKay porch. Tag the knives with your name and number, using the tags provided.
4.) Do not call about pickup.
5.) Bring exact change in cash. Venmo is for commies.
Does anyone else have a Mr. McKay to save their knives? I feel very lucky.

I have seen some fucked up knives in my day, but that is a doozie! And my best friend consistently uses his knives on bare marble counters, then runs them through the dishwasher. I think the only knife I've seen in person worse than yours had been in a ditch for at least a week after having fallen off the back of a motorcycle where a poorly secured knife roll allowed it to flee its abusive owner.
You, sir, are a sharpener's delight as it is certain you'll keep coming back.
Legit though, it isn't that bad since the entire blade is heat treated. It maybe won't push cut as pretty, and it might wedge into harder veggies, but you won't lose as much usefulness as you might think, assuming the pics aren't misleading.

Haha, you have made my morning! Yes, this knife still slices cleanly, even through tough, fibrous vegetables. I will spend whatever it takes to get it back to wholeness and sanity. I trust in McKay, our Higher Power in this situation. EDIT: I have never, at least, run it through a dishwasher.

I'm registering my interest here just to see what the outcome of this is. This guy has got to be good if he can go through so much effort to turn away business yet still remain in business, in whatever capacity he still is.
