The cameras are there to show where the fence was breached, I suppose. They'll know weeks in advance where Russia will break through due to build up along the border.
This is really more for political show than real protection.
It does help prevent grey-zone intrusions - it's difficult for Russian soldiers to "accidentally" enter Finland when they need to go over/through this fence.
The only thing I can think of is for it to prevent military intelligence spys from walking over the border to do bad things inside the country (like assassinations or infiltration or collecting Intel)
