A) in 1955 people still didnt even care about designing for the safety of the people inside the car. Where your steering wheel airbag is today, in 1955 there would have just been a huge nut for the bolt that holds the steering wheel in place. Smack your face on that in an accident and youre dead, which happened enough times that we now have the airbag steering wheel

B) a 1955 Chevy weighed about 3500lbs. An absolute land yacht. This hood ornament was the least of your worries if being hit by one at speed
