Wow I remember a friend installing this on my computer in about 2004/2005 and using I think it was daemon tools at the time so I didn't need the disk. I had no idea I was about to be hooked for life on a game when I sat down to make my first character in Pleasantview.
I did ultimately kill her on accident 😂 but I did figure out how to play and I've spent an accumulative probably few years playing this game since that day.

I'm curious what did You find difficult about it? I don't remember it being hard. Was it the time management or earning money?

Not who you asked, but I didn't find it difficult, just tedious. I already had a job, I didn't need a pretend one. After a while I just used the money cheat and turned the game into a sandbox chaos simulator. I think my favorite endeavor might have been the big house that was all second floor, laid out in a narrow maze, with occasional espresso machines amongst other points of interest to keep the neighbors amused. At least until the espresso caught up with them and they sought out the lone toilet at the center of the maze.

Honestly I don't really remember. I tried it in like 2009 or something. But it was probably both things lol. Oh, I do remember the controls confused me. Idk why I expected them to be like Sims 2 lol. Silly because both games were pioneers for what they were.

This post is as good as any to share the story of my first ever sim. I've named him after a character from a cringy TV show, because I was 13 and it was funny. I played the game normally, trying to get my sim through life, progress in his career, upgrade his house etc. At one point I decided to remodel his kitchen from an open one to a closed, separate room. While placing a wall between the kitchen and living room I ran out of money exactly at the point when the walls connected. While my sim was in the kitchen. It was my first play through and I didn't know how to sell stuff or knock down walls. So for the next few days (for the sim) I could just sit idly and watch my sim cry, plead and beg me for food, a toilet and a place to sleep. It was The Sims 1 so he couldn't escape through the window or take a nap on the kitchen chair. He starved to death on the floor in a puddle of his own urine. Just because I didn't know You have to press ALT to sell. I still think about him 25 years later. If there's a moral here I don't know what it is.

Pollination Tech 9! Strangetown is fun for sure. I don't think I really played Veronaville growing up at all though. I think my first play through on that was a few years ago.
