I replace a lot of door hardware. Like, a lot a lot.
I can't be bothered to break down the hardware into steel, aluminum, brass, and remaining trash. So when my scrap metal bin in the van starts getting full, i look for someone pushing a shopping cart or driving a beat up pickup full of scrap, flag them down, and give them all of my scrap. Less waste in landfills, they get some extra $$, and my time is spent getting them more scrap
Why tf would anyone report a dumpster diver? If they're making a mess, maybe? If I see someone leaving trash on the ground I'll call it out, but that's it
Yup, I'm supposed to report them to security, but like you said, it's trash destined for a landfill and they get some money out of it. Don't make a mess, and I've got nothing to report...
