Resident Evil film director says he ‘stripped out as much of the jokes as possible’ after test screenings

Not that I dont like jokes in horror, but it all depends on how many jokes were talking about. I would fully expect there to be some, but going overboard would change the type of movie your going for. My guess is it probably was for the best. Can't wait to see this.
