Referendum plan to scrap Bedford mayoral system to be considered at extraordinary meeting tonight

Residents in Bedford borough could be set to vote on whether to scrap the elected mayoral system of running the local authority, if a motion to an extraordinary full council meeting wins support tonight (Wednesday, September 16).
