Video of political stalking suspect shows WA lawmaker’s daughter shaken

The newly released footage from the Pasco Police Department sheds new light on the incident involving the adult daughter of state Sen. Nikki Torres, R-Pasco.

Delorme was arrested April 30 at his family’s home in Kennewick after allegedly spending hours over the span of a couple days parked in a car outside a Pasco home owned by Torres. Delorme has pleaded not guilty to one count of stalking, a gross misdemeanor, in Franklin County District Court.

His case is scheduled to go to trial Oct. 12.

Torres’ daughter told police in recorded video that Delorme’s presence on April 29 and 30 made her feel “really nervous, anxious, sick to my stomach.”

Delorme says he was outside Torres’ home to verify where the state senator was truly living in an attempt to disqualify her from running for office this year.

His arrest came just days before Washington’s filing week deadline, and as some Tri-City Republicans were working to prove Torres’ voter registration fraudulent.

Pasco police in investigatory documents claim Delorme was working with Torres’ opponent, Gabe Galbraith, who has cast doubt on Torres’ real residency.

Text messages reviewed by police between Galbraith, Delorme and campaign aide Benson Behen show the stated objective may have been to create “ammo” for a lawsuit or to launch a “defamation campaign.”

Galbraith and Behen allegedly organized the surveillance of the Torres home, paying for gas money, and discussing what police called “multiple deceptive pretexts” to gain access to the home, according to the police investigation.

Neither Galbraith nor Benson have been charged with a crime, though the two were investigated by police. A decision hasn’t been made by an out-of-county prosecutor.

Galbraith in public statements denies any wrongdoing and has called the release of information a “political hit” aimed at sinking his chance at the state Senate seat.
