I cannot rave enough about dreamingspanish (www.dreamingspanish.com).
I started using nothing but that resource in January and it's blown my mind how quickly I am learning compared to a year of studying and grammar rules and constant translation tests.

Learning a language directly in that language can be quite immersive and effective. It forces you to think and respond in the target language, which can significantly enhance your fluency. Have you found any specific methods or resources that help you navigate this approach, especially when encountering challenging vocabulary or grammar?

Learning a language in the very language you're trying to learn seems enjoyable, but at the beginning it also seems discouraging because you can't understand anything.
