I'm very surprised checking the "Lego City" theme and seeing that there's police station, fire station, airport, trains, buses, boats, other stuff... but no inhabitants!
This is not as I remember from years ago. Then there were also houses (this and this for instance), the postman...
What happened? Colour me nostalgic, but looking at older sets I find them more beautiful than many I see today.

idk but it would be kind of funny to see some Obvious Plant style mockups of like "HOA McMansion A/B/C" where it's three sets nearly identical with slightly different trim or doors, or "Modern Monstrosity" that's like a 3-in-1 type set where you start with a timeless classic build and make it increasingly "modern" and unsuited to its surroundings

If you want little LEGO houses with a lot of nice furniture, look at the Animal Crossing sets. Just replace the AC heads with minifig heads and you are fine.

I've actually come to love the LEGO Friends sets, they are really nice town & city builds, as long as you don't mind a slightly pinker colour scheme!
