The headline is somewhat misleading. The article says that Canada is pursuing closer ties with the EU and may be interested in participating in some EU programs, but neither the EU or Canada want Canada to be a full member of the EU. The idea of an associate membership was floated, but that idea was also floated with Ukraine and ultimately went nowhere.
"The EU" isnt trying to push for mass surveillance. A well funded (by the tech bros) subset of political parties are trying to do so. It is NOT popular, and the majority of MEPs are against. Yes the fash have had wins but so have we, that is definitely not a done deal
Yup, USA is the better ally. Eventually Alberta will leave Canada and join USA as the 51st state. Canada will just have to accept it. It's the best for the 2 countries.
