He looks for a headlock throw but gets taken to the straw where he braces off a foot and goes for another heavy headlock toss but Chura takes it and starts a drive and when Fuji tries one more overhook throw Chura ends up with his right leg behind Fuji that he uses to dump him backwards for a kirikaeshi knee trip.
Takayasu's forearm stands Kotoeiho up off the lines but his nodowa gets parried so he's forced to spin and Koto's drive is too fast for Taka to recover from.
Great slap battle between Hakunofuji and Daieisho who finishes it off with a slap down.
Kotoshoho has no answer to Atamifuji's bulk.
Kotozakura's tsuppari against Takanosho is undeniable.
Quick tachiai between Kirishima and Yoshinofuji and they both simultaneously look for grappling control and block each others' arms. Kiri drives Yoshi to the tawara but Yoshi's overarm throw try is just enough to shift the ozeki to recover. Kiri fights off the bales and lines up another drive but Yoshi's overhand belt grip remains locked up and he puts Kiri on the clay.
Fujinokawa finds shallow double underhooks against Aonishiki that prevents the ozeki from his preferred inside left but after an overarm throw attempt Aoni ends up with an overarm left but his underarm right is across the Fuji's body center on the front the belt. Fuji looks for an underhook throw and trip attempt but Aoni goes for a drive and almost lines up an outside trip of his own and then looks for an outside leg pull with his right which Fuji counters with yet another underhook throw that puts Aoni on the bales and Fuji locks up a deep inside right belt he uses to shove Aoni over the edge. Simply amazing sumo here.
Gonoyama comes with a hard drive but Onosato gets a slap down that plants Gono hard on the dirt. Effective this time but it feels like the yokozuna likes those retreating slap down attempts that often don't work for him.
Ura gets a two on one drag on Asahakuryu’s left arm and gets his shove out from there.

IF he was gonna win it, one possibility is "from the middle": fight a bunch of mid-tier wrestlers because that's where he's ranked and keep his win ratio high, then at the end of the tourney when everyone's tired bring out his A game. But I know Ura isn't gonna win this tourney. Right?

Shishi's at 3-3, which isn't bad for him considering he's at M9 instead of down in the depths of Makuuchi where he usually is. I could see him holding at single-digit Maegashira and continuing to refine his craft.

Yeah I thought that's what happened tho it's a little hard to follow. Feelz bad for Takayasu, I almost thought he'd spin out in time. But good skill by Kotoeiho and good sportsmanship by showing concern for Takayasu after he fell out.
Kirishima and Yoshinofuji
Yoshinofuji's 1-5 win-loss ratio doesn't represent the quality of sumo he's been bringing, and this win shows that he's really a top fighter. Kirishima wasn't slacking either, he really wanted this victory to stay in contention. Amazing fight, one of the two best of the day.

Yoshinofuji's first win this tournament is against Kirishima! He did beat K. at his own game, and twice.

So important to jump FORWARD instead of backwards. (in this case easier because Onosato was pushing his head down.)
It was really a close call, undecided up to the last second.

Aonishiki - Fujinokawa : that footwork tho. So good.
Hakunofuji - Daiesho : almost a repeat of H's previous match Aonishiki, but D was able to refrain from leaping backwards.
