A West of Ireland data center objected to by novelist Sally Rooney has just had its planning permission overturned on the grounds that it breaches Irish national climate policy.
The facility, which was granted planning permission last year despite pushback from local residents, was set to be built in Killala, Co Mayo by Mayo Data Hub Ltd, part of US firm Avaio Digital.

A part of Ireland is still under British occupation, unfortunately. So many people here are affected by their laws regardless.(You already mentioned the republic, sorry. Fighting against a new keyboard update olm my phone but I did read your message).
In her case though, part of her work takes place in the UK. She announced at the time that she supports Palestine Action and therefore cannot travel safely to the UK to continue promoting her work (or meeting publishers - I forget exactly).
