Well, all the subjects I've been shooting lately appear to be gone. Hummingbirds, Green heron, Cedar Waxwings, all gone. And I've been going crazy trying to find some subject matter for my evening shoots where I don't have to deal with the hideous traffic lately.

I've been seeing some folks post some Great Horned owl shots lately where I recognized the location from a family was photographing this summer since nesting, but had no idea the juveniles would still be around this late in the year. And although owls are one of my favorite subjects, I haven't seen any species of owl for months now and needed a fix. So, I was thrilled to find this owl that gave me a good look at sunset yesterday.

It was pretty damn far and even with 840mm worth of lens, it needed a huge crop, so hopefully will get some closer encounters. I hope to be able to get more shots before they leave, but that remains to be seen. I just know I'll be going back tonight. I never get tired of them.
