Interesting that the two sekiwake are up the top of the table, and the two komusubi are near the bottom. It's very cool to see Atamifuji and Fujinokawa making themselves comfortable at such lofty ranks.
Takerufuji looks for Asakoryu's belt but after getting denied twice decides to force him out without touching it.
Shishi and Ichiyamamoto ineffectually push at each other without getting belt grips until Shishi feels a solid left overhook and uses that to flip Ichi down to the clay.
Ura and Oshoma meet with equally low tachiai then have a slap fight until Osho slaps down Ura who in typical Ura fashion has to overdramatically do a front somersault.
Takayasu gets a right yotsu on Atamifuji but after a failed underarm throw they switch to distance pushing. Atami's right hand shove forces Papa to pivot 360 and Atami shoves him off the ring.
Fujinokawa's fast tachiai ends up on the ropes after he's overwhelmed by Kotozakura's charge. He dances away and almost passes the ozeki by to walk out but on Koto's recovery comes in with a flurry of tsuppari that goes nowhere and Koto locks up a solid right overhook. Fuji pivots hard and as the ozeki comes around uses his own right overhook to throw the big man to the ground.
Kirishima and Daiesho can't find belts off the lines so they switch to tsuppari instead, with Daiei parrying a nodowa that almost sends the ozeki out. As Kiri rejoins the fight Daiei works his thrusts to drive Kiri across the ring and as Kiri prepares to fight off the bales Daiei immediately switches to a slap down that puts the ozeki's hands on the dirt.
Yoshinofuji's tachiai takes Aonishiki back and he looks for an outside right trip with a right overhand throw but Aoni extracts his leg and uses his left underhook to throw Yoshi down hard to claim his giant stack of envelopes.
Fujiryoga bounces off Onosato from the lines and when he tries to go back in the yokozuna slaps him down.
Nice win, safety sumo at end! Kinda wish Takerufuji was in contention to win the tourney, but it's just good to see him back again.
Shishi and Ichiyamamoto
Something really weird happened at the beginning of the Shishi vs Ichiyamamoto match: Shishi actually looked like he was in control. He was moving at his own pace, he was keeping track of what was going on, and sure enough, eventually he makes it happen. OK maybe it's bc Ichiyamamoto is having a particularly bad tourney, but still, it was good to watch.

Bout of the day. This had the feel of a superhero battle: the charge, the pushback, the dodging and then... how is Fujinokawa gonna take down such a bigger opponent? The way he always does: by committing his whole body.

Fujiryoga bounces off Onosato
I was cheering for Fujiryoga just to keep the tourney interesting, but Onosato's In The Zone and Fujiryoga was outclassed. Onosato even managed to win while moving backwards.
Speaking of The Race, I'm kinda hoping that some of those people two wins behind still get a chance... specifically thinking of Kotozakura and Aonishiki, but even longshots like Takerufuji and Ura. But the safe guess is an Onosato win, maybe contested by Atamifuji (with Fujinokawa as a longshot).
