The nearly decade-long case of a Black Texas woman who was sentenced to five years in prison in a controversial illegal voting case will end with an acquittal, the state’s highest criminal court said in a 5-4 decision on Thursday.
An absolutely pathetic indictment of this country right now.
The more you look into it, the more blatant it becomes.
Her crime? She went into a polling location and asked if she was allowed to vote, because she wasn't sure. After reviewing her case, the poll worker wasn't sure either and told her to cast a provisional ballot. She followed the poll worker's instructions exactly ... and then Texas tried to send her to prison for 5 years for that, because it turns out the poll worker was wrong.
And people wonder why I hate people. Particularly those of certain... political persuasions. I hope this poor woman can sue the fuck out of TX, and go retire in peace somewhere more reasonable than that shithole.
