What is the best way to share videos through the Fediverse?

I think sharing videos is not supported in the instances, so what would you consider the best way to share your videos here?

I’ve been hearing good things about peertube and pixelfed, but have yet to really dive into either. Both are free and decentralized like lemmy though :)

https://joinpeertube.org (positioned to replace youtube)

https://pixelfed.org (more like instagram?)

I can’t believe I’m only now looking into the decentralized side of the social internet - I’m usually an early adopter lol. Been a boiling frog in corporate for too long.

I get you on the last part, when did everything when to shit lol, I loved to talk around the forums sites back in the days, and now we are afraid of investors that could ruin our meeting places???

Doesn't make sense to be honest.

Might be a dumb question, but why not just offload video storage to YouTube and share the link here?

Not dumb at all. Not the OP but I think the idea is finding a federated alternative so that Google cannot remove their account, monetize it, etc.

Not dumb at all, is only that I don't want to share videos on a large scale like YouTube, I'd like something quicker and low profile.

Peertube or odysee maybe?

What instance would you recommend me?

@kratoz29@lemmy.world you can try peertube

I did give it a look, because of Fediverse, but still couldn't make my mind with the instances lol.

Now I understand why people thinks Lemmy is confusing haha.
