My local Asian restaurant puts a lettuce leaf down on styrofoam to keep it from melting onto your food

This isn’t l very interesting, or is it? That appears to be cabbage and it’s frequently used in bamboo steamers so the dumpling won’t stick to the steamer. Keeping hot dumplings from sticking or melting to styrofoam is also a good use.
