I always help them in the direction they're already headed. In my apartment complex there are concrete paths between all the snail friendly foliage and I worry they'll get stepped on by someone else.

When they are out on the sidewalk isn't it because the are trying to get out of the grass because it's too damp and they'll drown in it?
