This is the first year it flowers, hoping to get fruit this year.

What a spectator flower! Is there something you can do to encourage fruiting, or just patience?

I'm not sure, we weren't in a hurry to have it fruit so I didn't look into it. The plant's main function is to provide shade to a chicken coop. It is self pollinating so I'm happy with that.

I was just about to ask how you got it to flower without having all the caterpillars munching it down constantly. I think you just answered the question though with being around all the chicken. :)
