I know that I won’t see socialism in the West in my lifetime, but I take solace in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King (ignore the religious part if you are not religious)

I think religious messaging can always be understood on a human experience level if you're atheist. After all it was born from the human mind and encapsulates human aspirations. When MLK speaks about God's will, I understand that he talks about human purpose within his own cultural framework.

Don’t be so sure. Honestly it seems like in the next few decades the world really has a choice between socialism and extinction. If we are not certain we are destined to be consumed by environmental catastrophic we must believe in socialism in the near future and fight for it.
