Whole swaths of East of England and southern East Midlands missing hereā¦and for what reason? Also no Chelsea or Tottenham? Just Arsenal for London? No Manchester United (literally one of the biggest clubs in the world? Man City, Brentford, and Everton wayyyy out of placeā¦Wowā¦who sanctioned this eyesore?ā¦ā¦ā¦.
Iām fairly sure Grimsby (placed on the wrong side of the Humber in Hull, despite also including Hullās badge on the map) made the cut as a callback as we played spoiler in the finale of Season 1 by beating them in the play-offs, and basically got the happy ending Wrexham were after.
Iām sure if thereās a Season 3, that their 3-0 win over us this season will get a bit of spotlight attention lol
I think this was just a clip thing talking about the fa cup and they weren't actually discussing where teams are from. Like it was a little clip as they were talking about how the fa cup works, not this is the teams location and this is what we think.
Yeah, itās not a serious documentary. Itās more about the town, football culture, and Rob/Ryan than it is about the players or the club. Lots of stupid little jokes and stuff throughout - not sure if theyāre inside jokes or trying to drive engagement just like this post amongst English/Welsh viewers.
Either way, thereās always a weird amount of anti-Americanism in these conversations. You people are insane if you expect us to know the locations of small towns/clubs in your country. Not like you guys know any US geography outside of Florida, NYC, and California anyway.
Tbh I wasnāt totally clear where Devon ended and I just figured nobody from either Somerset or Devon had powerful enough internet access to yell at me if I got it wrong
Itās like a two second graphic with all of the logos popping onto the map in rapid succession while the voiceover is talking about how teams from all over the country participate in the FA Cup. Itās not tongue in cheek or anything but in context of watching the show no one will actually be looking at it as a map of the clubsā locations, itās just a quick punchy visual.
If we're being very very generous, Everton are well supported in North Wales and Shrewsbury used to play in the Welsh Cup. Fuck knows what Rochdale are doing there though!
Tbf most of Americans call any European country "Europe". They will tell you they went on a vacation to Europe, which could range from Darlington to Albania
Wrexham doc creators knew EXACTLY what they were doing creating this.....its been posted on Twitter by every football page around. And now Reddit.....no such thing as bad publicity....
Thereās a video of Saka asking him to spell ārhythmā at the world cup and heās completely stumped. Manās got calves that make me swoon, but heās about as sharp as a tadpole.
It's probably the opposite, reallyāI'd say an American is more likely to characterize anyone from the island as "British" rather than English, Welsh, Scottish. Think of how many American opinion polls characterize the "British" accent as sexy, when they're probably thinking of Jude Law's accent rather than scouse or glaswegian
Am American and received a very good education here. They never differentiated England, the UK, or Great Britain that I can ever remember. To most of us, they are interchangeable terms. I remember being curious about it and looking it up myself. Youād think as the country we won independence from, and is now our closest ally, we might be taught that information but no.
For accuracy sake it does say they need to be champions of premier league, so chelsea should be there. Gotta at least get the big clubs with trophies in.
Great Britain vs UK is extremely fuzzy in the US, I wouldnāt expect anyone to know that. Hell, I probably wouldnāt even get that right. I also wouldnāt expect anyone to know the difference between flags, thatās nerd-level stuff not part of pop culture or general world news stories.
But you know some absolute dumbasses if they donāt know the distinction between Ireland and Scotland. Anyone with a high school education and access to the internet in America should know that. Iād bet my life that a majority of Americans could tell the difference.
I watched this and it was gone in a few seconds. But even those few seconds I was bemused.
Seems like Grimsby has invaded past the Humber and pushed Hull into Whitby. Newcastle has had a few too many and stumbled into the the wrong side of the country. Brentford have high tailed it as far away from London as they can. Everton have had enough of being the 2nd best team in Liverpool and becoming the best team in the middle of nowhere. Blyth are now the PRIMARY team in England. Incredible
When Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelheny said they were gonna make Wrexham the biggest club in wales they just meant they were gonna buy Cardiff and Swansea and move them to England.
As someone that lives in America now, 99% of people here, seriously donāt know where American Football teams let alone cities are located, Let alone UK.
Gets better the more you look at it. Just when you think you found the funniest placement, you look around and see another club that's incredibly out of place
Ah, Newcastle that famous club of the North East West.
*Just seen Forest almost in East Anglia, Everton practically on Anglesey and Blackburn almost on the Scottish border! I was thinking we could do a joke reply version of NFL ClubsFranchises but some will just think it's serious.
As someone that lives in America now, 99% of people here, seriously donāt know where American Football teams let alone cities are located, Let alone UK.
True, thereās a lot of room a lot of teams theyāve not put on here. But the south coast is probably the least offensive thing about this map. They have the two most successful teams, close to being in nearly the right place.
