Much more of a classic CF/target man but he looks really intelligent & has great movement. Reminds me more of a young Kane. Will be interesting to see if he can develop his game the way Kane has in dropping deep etc.
Pedri is better than Gavi, you're insane. Pedri isn't "always" injured. He's had a few rough injury stints after being played into the ground by Barça and Spain his first year at the club. We rely very heavily on him and put too much demand on him. Whereas when Pedri was healthy Gavi was riding the bench.
I don’t think Rasmus Højlund is at the level, or proven, as many others in this top 25.
But what I’ve seen from him is so exciting.
For his build, he’s insanely fast, seems to be well balanced and comfortable moving the ball left or right, tall and has a decent header on him [some players are tall as fuck and can never seem to connect the ball with their head], and lastly, his hold up play with his back to goal is some of the best I’ve seen. He can outmuscle and hold up as well as anyone.
Jude is going to win just because of the last 8 weeks and the fact he’s playing for Madrid. Media pushing him as Ronaldo Messi successor. But over the last year wirtz and Musiala were just better
Musiala is incredibly talented. Sky is the limit for him. but he's not as consistent yet and lacks what is to me one of the most valuable skills that Wirtz already has. Game intelligence. Wirtz knows what to do in certain (basically every) situations, Musiala still needs to learn that. Gladly, that's a skill you can obtain through experience. Wirtz is already worldclass, Musiala will get there eventually.
You are commenting without the required knowledge. Xavi Simons is a PSG player on loan to Leipzig, which is why u/DyMa_Nyx is referring to him as one of his players.
Should be Wirtz, will be Bellingham. Wirtz has been the best player in the league in the last 1 and a half years. Only his injury was a factor. But he came back as good as ever. If you are wondering why Leverkusen is as good as they are, there are 2 reasons. 1. actually good transfers like Boniface, Xhaka and Hofmann 2. Wirtz. That boy is nothing but incredible.
Xabi is so incredibly lucky to have a team like that to manage.
I'll be honest, I thought I'd be an old man before I saw an Irish player in one of these lists as it just seemed like we could never get a new Duff or Keane for years.
unironically i think Holjund should win because in hindsight, sure, Bellingham´s been clutch for Madrid a lot of the time but for a young player to get two goals in an UCL game in current Manchester United, that is just imo more impressive since well, playing in Real Madrid probs is easier than in Manchester United because on the former you get more balls to score whereas United struggles a LOT (be it injuries or just having a bad game) to create chances so the fact Holjund got 2 in a UCL match of all places imo is better.
See? We mostly still say "Pechino" for Beijing, and "San Paolo" for Sao Paulo. On the other hand, I don't know, no one translates Salt Lake City to "Città del Lago Salato" (but we do call the lake "Gran Lago Salato").
And since you're Mexican, we still call Ciudad de México "Città del Messico", in Italian.
It's... generally weird, what we translate and what we don't.
Gavi has been one of the best Barça players, with Frenkie, Ter Stegen and Araujo&Koundé. That's why he played so much last year.
And Pedri is always injured, so can't really be compared. I prefer a Gavi playing 95% of the games than a Pedri playing less than 30%.
Musiala, no idea, I don't really watch Bayern.. but he didn't look that good in WC.
And no one here was surprised Gavi won it, he is class and always looks great when on the pitch. Just surprised two Barça players won it in a row though.
Asked a big salary that Barca weren’t willing to give. Also at that time looked like his development stagnated a bit, he was very highly rated since he was very young but in the final years other players went past him. He wanted a clear project and Barca couldn’t promise anything. Also got Raiola as an agent. Many reasons. I think it was probably wise of him to change the scenery and get a fresh start. Here he was always known for his name and hair, got a million followers at 15 playing youth football etc.
Needs to adapt his game to suit men's football, got the impression a lot of his success at junior level had something to do with him being a relatively big lad, which doesn't translate to men's football. Spent half a season with us on loan and seemed more interested with starting fights with grizzly old Championship centre halves than actually getting into the area.
I feel like Bellingham and Musiala are the two standout players that should win. As a Bayern fan I hope it's Musiala but wouldn't be mad if Jude won it
I mean just being on the pitch doesn't get you the Golden Boy. Gavi is great, I love him, but he doesn't change the game the way Pedri, Jude, or Musiala do. Balde has also played regularly since breaking through with very few bad games. No claims he deserved it.
You are commenting without the required knowledge. Xavi Simons is a PSG player on loan to Leipzig, which is why u/DyMa_Nyx is referring to him as one of his players.
It's weird because we still use Italianized names for most European cities (Londra instead of London, Barcellona instead of Barcelona, Dublino instead of Dublin, Monaco instead of Munich which makes it easy to mix it up with Monaco as in the Principality of Monaco) BUT you'll never see New York translated to "Nuova York" (unless you're speaking with a centenerian) or Los Angeles to "Gli Angeli".
Bayern Monaco represented by two players, great to see.
Edit: Ah, just realized it's in Italian (do people in Italy actually call the team that way?). Weird as the rest of the post is in English ("finalists" “golden boy”).

Dead chuffed for Ireland, but fucking hell he would've been the perfect Kane successor.

In this spirit of sexual equality, 25 women should be added to this list, and it should be renamed the 'golden child' award.
At the award ceremony the winner should be granted special powers by Eddie Murphy.
