Actually, they PREFERRED fighting in the rain! People were total weirdos who loved crappy weather back then. Plus most of them were sexually aroused by mud.

I would assume that they didn't have it outdoors when it rained. Even more considering that they hadn't reached umbrella technology.

To be fair wars frequency don't have the decency to stay outside or leave your inside intact. This includes, sadly, the current war on drugs.
