Original Title: I don't like the narrative that the church has been “financially responsible and wise” with its money. That’s not the right way to characterize what has happened that has resulted in 180+ billion dollars in the bank:

We need to examine how they got their billions to begin with. And it’s very simple: they have been selling a bullshit story of blessings and prosperity in this life, and in the afterlife, if you pay the Mormon church money.

The church takes what you hold most dear: your family, your kids, your marriage, and sells it back to you. And if you don’t pay them money, you’ll be burning in hell, alone, forever, nbd.

That’s bullshit. So, not only is it reprehensible that they’re hoarding cash and not spending on the poor and needy, it’s HOW they got the cash in the first place, that bothers me most. It actually is sensible to get some financial professionals to help manage a lot of money. The mob and drug dealers do the same thing. But let’s examine how they get their money, that’s the real tragedy…..selling a bullshit salvation story with made-up Masonic rip-off rituals. Utahns are dead last in the nation in retirement savings. Because they give their excess to the church…..It’s reprehensible.

I know many, many golden-year Mormons who are living ss check to ss check, without savings, who have paid 250k + over their lifetime to the church. Had that money been in their retirement account tax-free for 30 years, rather than the church’s tax-free account, they’d be much much happier.
