So, you know those scams where the scammer calls someone and gets them to buy gift cards and read them off so they can steal money?

There's a bunch of reaction videos on YouTube where the Scammer gets scammed and then they get UNBELIEVABLY mad. (The "NO NO NO DO NOT REDEEEEEEEEEM MA'AM" ones).

My question is, why do they get THAT mad? If you were scamming someone, and got caught with a fake account that scammed you back, wouldn't you just go: "Ah, fuck." and hang up or something? Why do they get so passionately upset? Is the SCAMMER somehow on hook for all that 'lost' money?
