I see your criticism and agree regarding calendar search, a feature that's currently lacking. However, they do have search for emails.

That mail search is just for last 1 month. It's as good as non-existent.

You can set a custom time range. It is only set to just one month because longer ranges need more resources and time. But yes, it is non intuitive and cumbersome.
