When I was in high school, someone said to my crush at the time "You and (me) would make a nice couple" (We were in the same friend group). And then, in front of me she just said "Ew, disgusting".
I wasn't the same after that.
My own life example is a "no", but the timing was what made it terrible.
She said "no" BEFORE I asked (I was hyping myself up on a public manner). Shattered me.
Thats almost nice, im sure she can say much worse things :)
Fuck off is just no but with more words.

The worst she can say is "911 this guy is harassing me."
Even if he's innocent, he's going to court and getting a stain on his reputation.
