Ok so to cheer the place up a bit I thought I'd share my Halloween story. This was about 30 years ago it's still clear as day in my head. My brother bought this hideous mask thing, it kinda looked like a deranged werewolf, a whole rubber mask over the head deal with God ugly wild hair. I had not seen it.
Walking down the darkened hallway at home heading for my bedroom, he waited in a doorway half way down and when I got close he said "boo". Not loud. Just boo. Well I fucking shit and let out some very explicit language. He just walks off. I was test subject number 1.
Come Halloween night (it was still daylight) he's watching out the window waiting for some teenagers. Finally 3 poor unsuspecting children rock up and just before they ring the bell he flings open the door and in the most horrible Freddy Kruger type voice screams "Ya wants some candy?" They absolutely shat, screamed and tried to run then they laughed. He then has a chat to them to make sure that they're OK. Finished up with "be sure to tell you friends".
He comes in satisfied that it worked. Asks "should I hold a kitchen knife next time?" "No". "It's not real". "No".
Dad kind of casually dropped during the week that I should go up to Moama this weekend for the day to take my new car out and that he'll come, but it sounded like he was half kidding and I said nah because I'm over the pokies (Moama = pokies trip at the Moama Bowls Club). I realised last night that he has been home alone for a month and a half and doing daily trips to Williamstown hospital to see Mum and he probably actually needs a day out.. especially before Mum gets out of the hospital and they'll still be stuck at home for a while. Just called him and said let's go tomorrow, I'll come over later today so we can watch the Australia NZ game tonight and I'll stay over then we can head off in the morning. He sounds very happy.
I'm honestly thinking the light soy rice wine vingar and bit of chillo bit of spring onion... it's not bad as a dipping sauce. You could put some garlic or ginger in there i think that'll be the next step.
Very pretty sky above Thornbury. Mare's tails, mackerel clouds and curtains of ice crystals with blue between, all swirling about. If this was dawn, it would be incredibly spectacular. Wind is pretty strong though.
I offered to take over organising my family secret santa this year because my brother in law who usually does it almost had a breakdown last year trying to wrangle the old people who completely forgot who they were buying for.
If you're organising one; this is an excellent site to do it: Secret Santa Bash
You can select whether direct loops are possible (two people buying for each other) and also add custom rules like X must/can't buy for Y. It's free and easy. You can monitor who has viewed the party and if they haven't after a few days give them a call and get them to check their spam folder. My gmail address didn't filter it out but my microsoft one put it in the junk folder.
Oh and there is wish list function so you can give your secret santa a hint on what to get you!
Somehow the winds in moorabbin conspire against me, i get a fuggen headwind to my location, then a headwind heading back home, in different compass directions. How. Howwww.
completing 5 neopets daily tasks earns you 20000NP. The individual tasks come with NP and items too. My neopet is currently bloated so I need to wait for him to not feel sick before I can feed him and complete the tasks. The day resets at 6pm.
Fun fact RE: The Internet: It was literally designed to survive a nuclear holocaust.
Networks at the time all had a central node, and any such node would obviously be a target for a nuke. So, the Internet was designed so that you could blow 90% of it up, and the remaining 10% would keep working.
Unfortunately, I live in a city with both an air force and naval base. I'm less than 10km in a direct line to the centre of the city. Unless I get a fair bit of warning, our family is toast.
I'm a little further from the CBD but once they blow up the data centers and the lines internet is gone. I'll have to wait a little longer for radiation to get to me.
Whippers be snipped, concrete and bricks be stacked in stooks (or possibly stooked in stacks), and both green bin and overflow green bin be stuffed to the gills.
The current dipping sauce on offer is (and I've been spending way too much thought on it).. equal parts light soy and rice wine vinegar, little sesame oil, some finely sliced spring onion and chilli flakes (or even just fresh chilli).
After owning my headphones for a few years I have just discovered that there is a compartment in the case with a usb and audio cord inside it. I had no idea.
Yep. Most people want to be either 'pro Israel' or 'pro Palestine' which in their simplistic view means anti-the-other-side at all costs. I think Israel deciding enough is enough and ending Hamas is fair. I also think loss of innocent Palestinian lives is unfair, which makes things very complicated.
I think there is a big difference between 'Hamas' and 'Palestine', and if you're referring to the attack on the music festival and nearby villages, and hostage taking, then no I don't think that's fair.
I think you're picking on my use of the word 'fair', which is probably fair enough (heh). The situation is too complicated and obviously atrocities have been committed by both sides, and many attacks have already happened from both sides. You need to first ask whether Israel should even exist as it is now, which I honestly don't think I know enough about to have a strong opinion. I used to think that it was an abomination to be honest. I think ive changed my thoughts to more like "well, it's there now, let's make it work?". It's from that perspective that I made my opinion in the previous comment. All that said i'm no geopolitics expert, just a curious observer airing my thoughts ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Good critical thinking, but push further. A complete blackout is almost impossible in this age - especially in an area that's a global focus. There's too many points of access across too many differing technologies. On a broader note, carpet bombing isn't subtle and even if the area was a complete blackout, you can see that shit from surrounding countries.
Area wise, it's a small space. Different terrain. Ukraine is a sprawling country, Gaza is a narrow, dense strip. It's the difference between bombing victoria and bombing flinders street
You do know there are journalists in the region who would have internet access right? Palestine also barely had any infrastructure to begin with. It's carpet bombing doesn't take long when your bombing a city that has been carpet bombed about fifty times already and has been unable to rebuild. What an ignorant take on the situation.
Aiii, what's the point of the ignorant comment. Seagoon isn't a random bad faith troll, they're a reg. Don't be punitive. Help them understand or skate on by.
Ok plan for today - finish this coffee. Make egg and salami bagel sandwich. Eat bagel. Hang out washing. Vacuum house. Take some stuff to op shop. Maybe have quick rummage around op shop. Buy wine. I'm not going out tonight

Also someone tried to install a stereo into the roof cavity. Not the speakers. Just the stereo bit. I thought it was a bad idea.
Well that was a bust.. put my driver (golf club) in the back seat and drove down to Albert Park thinking the wind might keep people away from the driving range but it has not deterred them! Place was packed so I just drove to maccas to claim my free monopoly McChicken, bought an iced chai latte to go with it and drove home. Was nice to get out though so not all bad. I turned on the "Auto Vehicle Hold" feature in the car which activates when you come to a full stop and holds the car so you don't need to keep your foot on the brake. I like it! The first time was nerve wracking because I was sitting behind a car at a red light and there's a certain amount of faith you need to have to take your foot off the brake and trust the system.. but it works perfectly!
Meanwhile, I just put some peri-peri nandos sauce on the McChicken and it took it from meh to not bad at all!

Oh hello. Somehow, I missed the mention. As @useless_modern_god@aussie.zone said, I do post some new and old Australian tunes in the Alternative Nation community, but you need something more specialist/specific.
For that, I would recommend Oz music shows on things like 3RRR, 3PBS and also on Double & Triple J. Check out their websites. โ๏ธ
I dismissed vertigo until I got it a few months ago when going to a wedding in Indonesia. That was so rough I don't have any advice I do not not want to go through that again I'm just going to share your pain. Honestly it really threw me.
It's the absolute worst, for me right now is hard to know if it's fully vertigo, an inner ear infection as I'm now sick, plot twist, the new medication I've been taking.
I need something to cheer me up about being stuck back at work this morning. A whole packet of choc chip biscuits, a block of your fanciest milk chocolate, and your largest iced mocha with whipped cream and a cherry on top please.

Cats busy eating the pirate hat from last weekโs window. Flintstone style cat cave under development.

I'm the worst cat parent ever. I wouldn't let him eat a bee. So mean.

I won't let mine fight other cats or run away. This is abuse

Watching that Larrimah doco, feels like sitting on the verandah listening to my Grandparents crap on about their buttfuck town.

My vertigo is back with vengeance and that really is huge reminder to actually do the exercises.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 2y
I dismissed vertigo until I got it a few months ago when going to a wedding in Indonesia. That was so rough I don't have any advice I do not not want to go through that again I'm just going to share your pain. Honestly it really threw me.
MisssDarylC@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 2y
It's the absolute worst, for me right now is hard to know if it's fully vertigo, an inner ear infection as I'm now sick, plot twist, the new medication I've been taking.
