Vanilla Sock by Crazy Sock Lady on magic loop in Estelle Sock twin crazy ball. Was not a huge fan of the yarn, as it is pretty splitty and a little rough but you guys I did it! I made my first ever pair of socks! And the rusticness of the yarn helps hide my beginner mistakes lol

Damn, those look great! Fantastic job! Socks are hands down one of my favourite projects: quick, practical, lots of room for creativity, and you can never have too many. Welcome to the sock knitting club!

Bravo! Just curious, toe up or down? They look great either way. :)

Wow. I love the colour. It looks like it would take forever to knit this. How long does it takes?
Timecircleline@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 2y
The first sock took me 10 days, the second took a week.

You did it! They look fantastic! And now I will spend all day showing this post to people I know who are afraid to try socks ๐

Cuff down. Have you done both? I haven't tried toe up yet

My wife is the knitter in this house, but Iโll say that they look great!

As someone with crocheting, but no knitting experience, would you recommend this project to me? I really want to make socks now seeing how awesome your socks came out!

This was me a month ago: https://sh.itjust.works/post/5742265
I took some advice from that thread, and my first project was a hat, just to get used to knitting. It's all loops in loops, you'll get it quickly. I think it's good to do something else first because socks come in a pair and I don't think my second would have come as close to matching my first if I had dove in with them to start.
I think the best advice I got was to look up continental style knitting, since it tensions the yarn in your left hand. I hold my yarn the same for crochet and knitting.
Let me know how it goes!

Yay you! They look fantastic, I'm still too afraid to try knitting socks myself :s

Do we need to do some kind of sockalong? ๐คจ
kurobita@feddit.cl · 3 pts · 2y
That'd be awesome tbh. I just got into the whole "craft along" thing with a CAL a local designer set up for a shawl pattern. It's been fun sharing my progress with other participants and seeing what they're doing, troubleshooting and such.

Idk if you're a Discworld fan at all, but...

My friend, these were my second ever project. I've been knitting about a month. If I can do it, you can definitely do it!
FishersDonut@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 2y
Oh wow, they look great, love the colour! Are they comfy to wear?
Timecircleline@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 2y
Possibly the comfiest I own. I was worried because the wool felt a little scratchy to work with but honestly there's a lot to be said for custom fits!

So fucking coooool! I love then & my feet get cozy just looking at them.
